On Friday, 16 June 2006, during the official opening celebration of the printer’s 100th anniversary, J.P.P.M. Hendrikx, mayor of Baarle-Nassau, conferred the ‘Royal’ designation to print factory de Jong in Baarle-Nassau, presented to Joep de Jong in the name of Her Majesty the Queen. Since then, the company has been known as 'Royal Printgroup De Jong'. 'The ‘Royal’ designation was instituted in 1807 by King Louis Napoleon. There are approximately 150 businesses in The Netherlands with this appellation. The company fulfilled all conditions necessary to earn this title, including existing a minimum of 100 years, holding a very important position within its domain and having national significance.
